Higuchi Wins "World Warrior 2025 - Japan 5"

  • Guile specialist Higuchi emerged victorious, securing a spot in Capcom Cup 12 as the leaderboard points leader.
  • The runner-up was 16-year-old JP player taketake-piano, who showed an impressive performance throughout the tournament.

On January 11, 2026, Higuchi from ZETA DIVISION won the Capcom Pro Tour 2025 Japanese qualifier, "World Warrior 2025 - Japan 5," held online. A total of 1,043 players participated in this event.

Japan is designated as a "Super Region" in the World Warrior circuit. The player who accumulates the highest total points across all five regular tournaments earns a direct seed to Capcom Cup 12. By winning this event, Higuchi secured the #1 spot in the point rankings and officially qualified for Capcom Cup 12.

This will be Higuchi's first appearance in a Capcom Cup during the Street Fighter 6 era.

The World Warrior 2025 - Japan Regional Finals, where the top point earners will battle for the final Capcom Cup 12 qualifying spot, is scheduled to be held offline at esports Style UENO on February 8, 2026 6:00 AM.

Grand Finals

The Grand Finals was a showdown between taketake-piano (JP), coming from the Winners side, and Higuchi (Guile), who fought his way up from the Losers side. With the point rankings incredibly close, this match became a high-stakes battle where the winner would directly secure a ticket to Capcom Cup 12.

taketake-piano reached the finals with a dominant 10-game win streak through the Winners bracket. Meanwhile, Higuchi—who was sent to the Losers side by taketake-piano in the Winners Top 24—recorded an impressive 7-game win streak to earn his rematch in the Grand Finals.

In the first set of the Grand Finals, Higuchi’s aggressive play overwhelmed taketake-piano, resulting in a 3-0 reset of the bracket.

Higuchi maintained his momentum in the Grand Finals Reset, keeping up his offensive pressure while calmly answering taketake-piano's options. taketake-piano struggled to find openings with "Departure" or "Lovushka" setups. With another 3-0 score, Higuchi completed a 6-game sweep to claim victory and solidify his place at Capcom Cup 12.
