Ferry player kasausagi wins Evo Japan, securing a spot in the AWT 2025 Finals

Evo Japan 2025 took place at Tokyo Big Sight from May 9 to 11, 2025. In the Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (GBVSR) division, Kasausagi from Japan emerged victorious. The tournament saw a high-level competition with 481 players participating.
As a designated Platinum+ event on the Arc World Tour 2025-2026, the winner of this tournament earns a direct qualification for the AWT 2025-2026 Finals. With this result, Kasausagi has become one of the first players to secure a spot in the Finals scheduled for March 2026.
Kasausagi is well-known as a top-tier Ferry player who has stayed dedicated to the character since the previous title, GBVS. Their long-standing track record in major tournaments includes a 3rd-place finish at the GBVS Cygames Cup 2021 Winter.
While Japanese players dominated most of the Top 8, a1r0ke from China, playing Vaseraga, achieved a 5th-place finish, standing out as the only international player to break into the Top 8.
The Grand Finals featured a rematch between Kasausagi (Ferry) from the Winners Side and Zangief_Dream (Cagliostro) from the Losers Side. After losing to Kasausagi in the Winners Semifinals, Zangief_Dream fought his way back for a second chance at the title.
Zangief_Dream started the set with incredible momentum, quickly securing a 2-0 lead and putting the tournament point within reach. However, Kasausagi demonstrated remarkable adaptability under pressure. By making key adjustments to neutralize Cagliostro's setups, Kasausagi mounted a stunning comeback, winning three consecutive games.
With a final score of 3-2, Kasausagi maintained his undefeated streak in the tournament and claimed the championship.
